Happiness. It's relative.

I spent years doing strategic planning for nonprofits. I have the easel paper and colored markers to prove it. I used to have a sticky wall and baskets full of fidget toys including at least fifty tiny cardboard cans of Play-Doh, a substance that I love with my whole heart but never got to play with because I was supposed to be running things.
Anyway. Back to blogging goals.
A mission statement is just words without a strategy to achieve and exceed the mission. Goals make a strategy actionable. In other words, goals tell us what specifically should be done to be successful.
Having a mission statement and goals is new to Red’s Wrap. My approach over the past many years has been to just let it fly and that’s been okay and sometimes very satisfying, now and then yielding unexpected impact. But now I need to get smarter. Now I need to get my eyes on the prize, focus my energy and skill for greater impact.
Here’s the whole package:
Red’s Wrap 2024 Mission: Every day, create an essay, story, or poem that will resonate, amuse, or inspire just a single person somewhere in the world.
Red’s Wrap 2024 Blogging Goals
1. Publish new content every day of the year.
2. Improve engagement with the larger blogging community.
3. Increase Red’s Wrap visibility on social media.
4. Experiment with new formats, photography, and audio.
5. Commit to consistent impact measurement and strategy assessment.
I’m ready to rock. Say hello to 2024!

I loved your easel and everything you and it did to care for the people in our community. Well and the post it notes and good times too!
I really like your Mission Statement – purpose & clarity. I’ve never written a MS for my 11 yr old blog (despatchesfromtimbuktu) I’ve always treated it as a ‘maybe, baby’ pastime …. think I will continue on this path … it suits me; but as you say, hopefully what I write will amuse, inform or inspire at least one person in the world. I’ll happily settle for that.
I think that’s a good goal.
You are going full tilt aren’t you? I hope everything works as you want it to. My only request is to never change your authentic voice when you write. Your words and the way they are delivered are the best part of being Jan IMO and are to be treasured.
If you like I will be glad to share posts on my own blog if you are wanting to increase traffic and visibility. I don’t write often, and I keep my core group small by choice but I think many would enjoy your stories and POV in general.
Yes – going full tilt but I have a habit of fizzling out fairly quickly. I did tape the mission and goals to my bookshelf so at least they’ll be visible. I feel like I’ve been coasting so this will maybe get me to me more intentional. Appreciate you and your comments so much.
Good! looking forward to seeing them all.
