No Kings: How It Went

After the No Kings speeches were done on Saturday, they announced that the march would be forming up, so I asked my compatriots if they wanted to march and they shook their heads no, but I wanted to march, mostly because I’d been standing in one place for an hour and a half but also because the power of a demonstration is really only felt if you can block off a few streets so I put out my lower lip and downcast my eyes until my old friend said, “you want to march, right?” and I said yes but you shouldn’t agree just because I’m pouting and she said, and I will remember these words for the rest of my days on the planet, she said, “POUTING IS YOUR SUPERPOWER” and so we marched for several blocks, and I fixed my friend’s wacky sandwich sign a dozen times, and we met up with my beloved old man who was waiting for us in the truck several blocks along the way to spirit us home.

  1. YAY! Great idea to have a pick up point. No option for us to march but the turnout was larger than anyone expected.
