26 Signs, 76 Years

Daily writing prompt
What notable things happened today?

My husband and I put up 26 lawn signs in 90-degree heat which seemed like a pretty notable thing at the time, especially because the addresses where we were to deliver said signs were all over the place on streets we didn’t know so there was a lot of backtracking and going around the block which meant that sometimes we passed signs we’d already planted in someone’s yard, but in the midst of all this, I asked my husband if I seemed like a person who is 76 years old, expecting him to say, “no, not really,” because of how gingerly I jumped out of the truck at each stop with a sign, but instead he shrugged his shoulders and said, “well, yeah, pretty much, most of the time,” but we continued on anyway until all the signs but one were planted in the appropriate yards.

  1. It seems he may have gone down the generalization road rather than understanding you were speaking specifically to the moments of gingerly jumping with each sign. Sounds like brain overheating and the need for more ice tea or lemonade or water or adult beverage of choice 🙂
