Happiness. It's relative.

A huge thank you to the wonderful blog friends who weighed in on my story, “Heartache on Sable Lake,” including telling me to ditch the word heartache in the title. I was betting that you all would have great insight and you did.
Biggest takeaway – I’ve got to go deeper on the relationship between Diane and Birchie, remember the cardinal rule of “show, don’t tell” especially in the ending, and think more about Diane’s somewhat inexplicable reactions to her husband being keeled over in the canoe.
This morning, my husband yelled to me from the other room, “So, did I end up dying or what?” He’s picked up on the pattern of having him already dead or on the brink in all of my stories. Oh my. What does it all mean?
I told him he “lived to die another day.”
THANK YOU to Beth, Deb, Ruth, Nancy, Marilyn, Ed, Ann, Linda, Judy, Carol, and Reflections of an Untidy Mind! I appreciate you all for sticking with the story and for zeroing in on what needs fixing. You’re all the best. And, of course, thanks to Howard for his extreme canoeing acumen and great patience with my writing.
