Nothing Wrong with Random Thoughts

This afternoon I wrote a story about a Black guy who meets a white guy in a cemetery in the U.P. This required that I recheck capitalizing the B in Black and not the w in white, which I did. A.P. Style says yay to the B and nay to the W. I bumble. But at least I ask. It’s something. Now, ask me why they meet in a cemetery.

This morning, the Tai Chi teacher at the senior center sent her regrets. So Bill#1 stepped up with the encouragement of Bill #2 which I admired and appreciated. I love that there are two Bills and they’ve numbered themselves. Meanwhile, a new person had come to class and I found myself hoping that she would appreciate Bill#1 as much as I did and not yearn for the ‘real’ instructor. I couldn’t tell.

Tempest the dog saw me stirring at 5:00 a.m. so she came over to look me in the eye. I closed my eyes and she went back to her bed and curled up. Empty water bowls, whining to go outside, upchucking on the carpet, and I am remembering the yoke that was parenthood. Just kidding.

We had our big Hanukkah dinner with no gelt. If you wait too long to get gelt, you’re lost. Knowing I’d waited too long, I bought a bag of M & M’s.This was a lame strategy to begin with and then I put the M & M’s in a bowl and forgot to tell anyone that the M & M’s were standing in for legit gelt. So there’s a whole bag of M & M’s in my cupboard. This is a failure transformed into riches.
