100 Word Story: Paddle

into whitecaps and could barely see the pale slip of dock where they’d started

Beneath the canoe, she could see long snaking branches of trees felled in
ancient storms and imagined herself tangled there, beneath the foam, looking up

her drift away. She leaned into the count, pulling hard past the dead trees.

  1. I aced it as a small town reporter – my submissions were printed in full but I am entirely unable to write a 100 word story…
In your 100 words there is a best selling novel of enormous proportions. There is fear, drama, mystery and a bloody good read. Absolutely wonderful. XXX

    • You’re awfully kind. It’s easy once you get in the groove. Super fun to write. Now, long things – those are impossible for me.
