Five Things that Improve with Age

Daily writing prompt
What do you think gets better with age?

Wine, I’ve heard, becomes better with age, but I wouldn’t know since most of the wine I drink comes out of boxes and was made or vinted or whatever last week.

Cheese, I suppose, but you have to be a connoisseur to really like aged cheese. It gets stronger as it ages which suits some people but not the weak whose company I mostly keep.

Veracity, which is a rarely used word for speaking the truth, is something that gets better with age because, to be honest, not caring what people think, a hallmark feature of aging, is very freeing on the honesty front.

Generosity certainly improves with age because the things one has become heavier and more bothersome to keep and because giving things away feels much like stripping off flannel shirts in the middle of a summer heat wave.

Love gets better with age, if one is lucky enough.

  1. great list, and my dancing has gotten better with age, because I am uninhibited about it )

  2. THANKS, JAN! These are great! They help assuage the achy hip, the halting words, and the lagging energy to do just one more task. I’m adding “sense of humor “to your list. (BTW… my go-to wine is Winking Owl cab ($3.45 at Aldi)
