Happiness. It's relative.
It is slightly unnerving to see that someone is reading all my posts since the beginning of my blog in 2010. There are over 3,000 posts.
I appreciate new readers, for sure. But I’ve never had a new reader read all my old posts and so I wonder about that. Is it curiosity? Appreciation for my amazing writing? Or AI come to visit?
If anyone has any experience like this or thoughts about what’s happening, please share.
My blog is my fifth child so I’m very protective of it.
No idea on this one
I get people who binge on severn or eithg posts at a time. But from the way you wrote your post I assume you are talking much larger numbers. I’d be concerned too, Jan.
I’m going to guess some huge corporation is training its AI which as you probably know happens when AI “reads” stuff written by actual real people. In the course of “learning” from the material, the AI adopts and incorporates chunks or whole selections–thus arguably violating copyright law (would be my argument). Protection from this abuse is something WordPress should offer to its subscribers but they’re probably doing the same thing, sad to say…
Supposedly a few weeks ago WP did offer an opt out on AI training. But how effective that is when the AI is just tapping our feed is I can’t guess.
I have often THOUGHT about going back to the beginning of some of my favorite blogs…but I never have. I always think that perhaps when I’m so old to walk around much that will be the time to hit the archives. So far I’m not at that point! I think that you’re smart to suspect AI actually. I never look at my stats so I wouldn’t ever have a clue.
I sometimes share some of your blog posts with my mom and others I think will appreciate your humor and insight. Maybe it’s someone who got hooked recently and wanted to hear the older stories.
