Happiness. It's relative.

The checks were in the drawer. Already signed. She just filled in the recipients’
names.
Her uncle trusted her that much.
She paid the health aide with a check and the cleaning lady. Once a year,
she paid his taxes. She could sell the house if she wanted to or rent parts of
it out to strangers. He would never know. His tiny room looked out over the
backyard. His eyes fluttered at the birds feeding wildly.
She decided to buy a puppy. A Grand Pyrenees, a dog that he could see with
his rheumy blue eyes, something to love.
