Happiness. It's relative.

The air is thick here and unbreathable so everyone is holding their breath until the skies clear and act like they ought to, with the sun shining or not and clouds forming the shape of lambs or anvils, meanwhile, we consider death approaching and all the dystopian futures we’ve imagined with heavy equipment moving vast stretches of earth and narrow paths assigned for cars to travel, in the midst of this, we stop for sushi and pizza and, also, brownies, at the high-priced corner store on the way home and we eat these things on our back porch while the birds peck the last seeds out of the feeders and the squirrel minds his business beneath us all.
Isn’t that sky just the oddest thing to experience? We have wildfires here every summer so sadly this has become the norm around here. It’s the creepiest thing to watch the yellow/orange tinge start to happen. Not to mention trying to get all the ash off of your car if you have to park outside. Oh yes- the breathing issue as well!
And yet, so many people deny climate change.
