Happiness. It's relative.
I’ve trained our cat to energetically lick his paws, stop, turn, and look at me in disdain. I’ve also trained him to create a place to sleep in every room of the house, bite my husband’s ankles at the same time and place every night, and sit very near my head in the morning making little gnashing sounds with his tiny teeth.
After years of being told to do it, I finally claimed the domain name for my WordPress site. So, now my blog’s url is reds-wrap.com instead of redswrap.wordpress.com. The decision gave me fits because I envisioned the switch resulting in the loss of my ‘inventory’ and other calamities and was only calmed when the Happiness Engineer (who was actually speaking to me in AI) told me it would all be fine. And it was.Well, so far.
The other night at a fundraiser, I put my hands on the mayor’s shoulders and told him he was doing a good job. This feat was made easier by the fact that our mayor is very short and extremely nice-looking. And extremely nice. Still, I walked away thinking who does that?
On the topic of shortness, I seem to be joining Short Nation myself. After the nurse left me on the table to wait for the doc, I hopped off to look at my driver’s license to see how tall I used to be (like two years ago). Lordy. I was a giant. Of all the things I’ve conjured about getting old, becoming tiny has never been one of them. Someone will be pushing me in a baby stroller with a big hat tied in a bow under my chin. “This is Jan. She used to be tall.”
I rewrote a story and took out the part about a semi-truck crossing two lanes of traffic and hitting the heroine’s RV which then bursts into flames. Instead I gave her a flat tire. It’s much better. Who needs more mayhem, right?
I always love your Friday round ups!
Thank you, Jan… My smile muscles hadn’t been used yet this morning. Until now. Love the pic of the cat AND the image of Short Jan in a stroller.
It’s my first cat video! A whole new career. 🙂
I am in awe of your ability to train your cat. What you lost in stature to gravity, you gained in cat training.
