100 Word Story: Lasting

I have a friend who is cleaning his attic. He says he has found black and white photos from when he was a young man living in Israel.

He says this with his sleeves rolled up like he is ready for work or meetings or dancing like he might have sixty years ago. His collar is unbuttoned.

He thinks I can’t imagine him young and living in Israel but I can. His time there put a sheen on his face, a glory of dawns and work and the held hands of many friends.

He wishes the photos were in color.
