Happiness. It's relative.

Hello. I am Swirl.
My owners think I need a therapy dog. I get extremely anxious when storms are coming so I jump on things and paw at them like the couch pillows and people.
Last week during a storm, the lady sat in the bathroom with me and patted my head but then she got tired of that and so I had to go paw some things, like the man’s arm, which I think hurt him because there was yelling and a little blood, and then I had to keep circling, circling, circling because you know the storm is coming but from which direction? You have to be ready.
I wish I had a dog house, a place to call my own. Like in the old days. Now I live in a house that is too big for a normal dog and it gives me no shelter.
After the pawing time last week, the people bought me a thunder shirt. They make me wear it when storms are predicted. It’s supposed to make me feel safe like when you swaddle a baby which is something I’ve seen – they wrap her up like a sausage in a bun so you can only see her little round apple of a head.
Here is my new shirt.

Here is the swaddled baby.

It’s embarrassing.
Enjoyed Swirl’s perspective. Tom
We had a thunder shirt for Pickle but she hated being put into it – just like the coats that were meant to keep the old dog warm in the snow.. She wondered what she had done wrong.
I used to think that dogs could sense a storm coming, but when Pickle (and before her, Molly) lost their hearing, they became indifferent to thunder and fireworks and bird scarers. It was the one compensation we had – no more trembling and panting in terror.
ha! great ending! works for everyone
That was a real belly laugh! Thank you XxX
