Happiness. It's relative.

You look pretty average. Mind if we interview you?
Sure, I guess. What the hell.
So, we’re doing a series on all the joy that people are finding in the pandemic. We’re calling it Pandemic Pluses. Whole different take on things, you know. Enough with the blood and guts.
Like what’s the silver lining in 170,000 people killed by the disease? Sure, there’s always a flip side, I guess. Fire away.
So, what’s been your greatest joy in all this? If you had to put your finger on one thing that just fills you with gratitude in these trying times, what would it be?
Not being on a ventilator.
We’re actually looking for something a little more joyful.
Okay. The masks. I love the masks. I have a new black one that’s very cutting edge and when I wear it with a big hat, I feel like one of those giant poisonous flowers you see on National Geographic.
And you like that? Never mind, what’s something else that is giving you joy right now, maybe something a little more…..
Normal?
We’re always interested in ideas that our viewers can relate to, so maybe something a little more mainstream. Have you taken up a new hobby? Maybe drawing or needlepoint? Have you gotten those old creative juices flowing?
I’m growing my hair out.
Okay. So that’s a joyful thing I guess. Different.
My goal this year is to have a ponytail.
That’s your goal for the entire year?
Yes.
I see. Well, would you say that looking like a poisonous flower and growing your hair out are things that make you happy in this topsy-turvy world we have right now?
Not yet, but when I have a ponytail, maybe.
Any advice you could give to people who might be struggling to find the joy in the pandemic?
Water down your drinks or you won’t make it.

I laughed like a lunatic and loved what you said!! XXX
Darkly humorous and spot on!
Love this dialogue. I’m still grinning.
Loved this as much the second time.
I couldn’t stop laughing. The interviewer was shocked, ha.
Reblogged this on Red's Wrap and commented:
Ah. Almost two years ago. How times have changed, sort of.
I can now have two little wispy braids. Since I used to have short layered hair, it will take a while before I achieve my life goal–a French twist.
Ah – I am coming from years of half inch hair…a French twist, now that is an amazing goal.
I am getting close.
That’s certainly cutting right to the chase, Jan! My hair can actually go into a (very short) ponytail, now; course, my face shows more, then, which isn’t necessarily a positive:)
My hair has been so so short for so long I’m used to that face exposure. Maybe longer hair can give me some cover. Lol
“Water down your drinks…” sage advice!
I’ve actually got quite a killing combination of masks. Close to dozen by now.
This is a sardonic ha.. want to be appropriate!
