Advent 5: Dress Up
Nancy Pelosi is the glory of old.
She is the white suit, high heels, red lipstick glory of old. She is the I know what I believe and what I have to do glory of old. She is the I’ve got the votes or I wouldn’t be doing this glory of old. She is the “Don’t mess with me” glory of old.
I’m no Nancy Pelosi. I don’t have a white suit or red lipstick but I do sometimes count votes and I’m working on saying “Don’t mess with me” but in a more subtle way since I think people might erupt in laughter if I said it like she did. “Don’t mess with me.” Oh my. How fine. How very, very luscious.

I love the way you describe her as a woman who knows her own power and doesn’t shy away from it. She’s like that aunt you can’t help but admire.
A critic might say she “lost it”—except she didn’t. She was totally in control, and she gave her “do you hate Trump?” questioner exactly the response he needed to get, with exactly the right tone. My favorite part was how she strode back to the podium, to make sure he got a high quality full treatment. With our country becoming increasingly messed-up, I took joy in just for a moment seeing someone and something that was 100% right.
She’s certainly rising to the occasion and makes a wonderful role model.
I love the stand she took and like you, might not be taken as seriously, but meaning it just as much
i do miss “ladies” dressing up in power looks but have to say, i don’t miss doing it.
