We couldn’t wear pants

It wasn’t allowed, just skirts

That’s how it was, then

  1. I was in 7th grade when our school district allowed girls to wear slacks. But the slacks had to be part of a pantsuit.

  2. A granddaughter and I were talking about this a couple of days ago. I remember how cold my legs would get in the winter.

  3. Knee socks! And the cat-eye glasses. I remember coveting a pair that had rhinestone wings. Mom vetoed that one. One sister, the hippie rebel, smuggled bell-bottoms out of the house. I so envied her the bravery. Thanks for the memory trigger.

  4. I went to Catholic high school, we wore skirts to basketball games, with knee socks, we were allowed to wear slacks to football games. but climbing the bleachers was a bit tricky.
