Happiness. It's relative.
Stepping Stone Farms is a place out in the country where rescued horses live and people who also sometimes need rescuing come to be with them.
It is a place where everything is functional and nothing is fancy. Nothing exists for show or to impress. Horse culture here takes a different direction to where the old and the resilient are prized and perfection is recognized for the fleeting thing it is.
I love this place because it is gentle and unadorned, a haven for the wounded where all are beautiful enough.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyone lived in a place like this? JB and I were just talking about what it would be like to live in a war zone. And I often think of how horrible it would be to live in a social class where there is great pressure to be beautiful and have lots of expensive toys/jewels.
I love this place too.
