Happiness. It's relative.
Sit perfectly still right here, don’t move, stay still, don’t bother with the flies, they won’t bother you if you don’t bother them, stay perfectly still and be here when I get back.

Yep, you guessed it – a Trifecta Writing Challenge, this one was to use the same word in the same form three times in a 33 word piece. I doubled just for fun.
This had an eerie quality for me, too. But I think it’s because I associated it with what I am constantly told about bees. I can handle this advice when it comes to flies. But bees? Forget it!
Definitely unsettling, even though the words are simple and often heard. But not quite like this. *shiver*
There’s something a little sinister about this piece. That admonition: “…sit perfectly still and be here when I get back.”
Thanks! I’ve been working on my sinister. The 33-worders are perfect for sinister.
“they won’t bother you if you don’t bother them” – this brings back memories of childhood picnics with my family… my mom always said this to me when I’d freak out over bees hovering around me. (I still get jumpy around them!)
The echoes of Mom — I probably had it said to me a thousand times and passed it on to my own kids another thousand.
Me too…nice piece.
That is powerful. 🙂
Thank you!
