If you had to sum up your life philosophy in one sentence, what would it be?

YOU’LL KNOW IT’S THEM. THEY’LL BE THE ONES LAUGHING.
An offhand comment my husband made about my older daughter and me has weirdly become my life philosophy.
It’s when we take our just awake, limping selves out to the back porch with our hot cups of coffee and our little kiddo with her hot chocolate with three marshmallows and someone says something remotely funny and it becomes the most hysterical utterance ever and we laugh loud enough for the whole street to hear us.
Sometimes we keep laughing for long minutes. Or we go on to a different topic and then remember the funny thing and start laughing again. My husband smiles slightly when he is laughing (it’s very subtle) but I am a loud laugher. It’s magical. Finding a new lease on life with a wisecrack.
This wasn’t always my life philosophy. During my long life, I’ve worn a lot of hair shirts, been insufferable about the value of big goals and hard work, then I had a few years of love the world, but now I’m all about laughing.
Laughing is what waits for you after walking through a vale or two of tears.

A sense of humor keeps me going. Funny kid stuff, funny grandkid stuff – such as my grandaughter’s answer when her mom told her to behave – “I’m have.” My husband and I are in Australia, and it seems we find something to laugh about every day while traveling.
