Happiness. It's relative.

My favorite toy as a child was paper. Looseleaf paper, in particular, because I could write on it during class and the teacher thought I was doing something she’d told us to do.
There was the Mousevill Press and later the Bunny Gazette. My mother kept this edition and sent it to me along with my baby shoes and a lock of my hair. I like that the Mousevill Press had both a Men’s and Women’s page as well as Jokes.
Here are the Jokes.

I grew up to love paper in all its forms and to surround myself with stacks of it. I also love a good pen, and lately have taken to writing postcards for political causes mostly because I like writing words with a pen.
As a child, I also loved my bike an exceptional amount, and, for a while, I had a pretend rifle that I used to play war with the neighbor kids. We’d lay in the ditches on either side of the dirt road I lived on and pretend fire at each other and then run like heck into the bushes. There were a lot of war movies on TV then, so we knew all the moves.
I was always pretty proud of the Mousevill Press and the Bunny Gazette but they never had a real wide circulation. Mostly just one copy which I would show my mom and then put away where she could find it later.

Written in response to the #bloganuary prompt: What was your favorite toy as a child?
Thinking about looseleaf paper in school reminded me of those Ace reinforcement things. You licked them and put them over any hole that had a tear in it. Did you use those as a kid too? We had to buy them each year according to the list of required supplies.
What a treasure! Where do you get the bloganuary prompts?
It’s kind of tricky. I signed up but not getting the emails so have to search. Google bloganuary- I think that will get you to the prompt list. It’s fun.
Thanks.
I love that you wrote these and glad you still have them. that’s so great that you had a joke section. I have always been a huge fan of paper and continue to be.
Those jokes are pretty damn good! 😀
I used to write down jokes too, as a kid! So sweet of your mom to keep your jottings.
