Nancy Pelosi standing up in her white suit and ripping Trump’s lie-encrusted State of the Union speech in half in front of the entire world was the most honest, authentic, righteous action I have seen in years.

According to The Week, when asked later why she ripped up the speech, she said, “It was the courteous thing to do given the alternative.” Later she added, “He shredded the truth, so I shredded his speech.”

The scolding started right away. The You’re a Bad Girl chorus is tuning up as I write. Decorum, don’t you know. She violated the decorum of Congress, probably like JLo and Shakira violated the dainty standards of the NFL by busting kids out of cages and waving the American flag.

Amidst much handwringing: Couldn’t they have found another way to make their point?

Maybe write a letter to the editor?

Nancy Pelosi’s act of ripping up the speech did more than the entire impeachment to reclaim moral clarity from the worm bed of the Trump Administration. Let’s hope women all over the country follow her lead.
