Happiness. It's relative.

Why do you come back,
apologizing for things we don’t remember,
wiping away the winter grime and the moldy leaves,
leaving the stones of your small, tardy regret for all to see,
you know it’s too late for that,
bring us something new.

What happens here on Red's Wrap is all over the map. There is no single theme, no overarching gripe, no malady of my own or others that dominates. I write about what seems important or interesting at the moment and what aims me toward hope. I write stories, essays, poems - whatever fits the day and the mood. Nothing stays the same, here or anywhere. That's a good thing. Happiness. It's relative.

This is lovely, Jan. Great details, and what an amazing turn of phrase: “stones of your small, tardy regret “
Thank you! It was a great prompt. And I love the new set-up. Really beautiful.
“bring us something new.” Love that ending!
This was written in response to a prompt: Why do you keep doing this to us?
Very powerful!
Chilling and beautiful. I love this!
Thank you!
The picture goes perfectly with your words and helps set up the whole image in my mind of what is going on. “Tardy regret” was also my favorite phrase.
Argh, what do they want!?!
Glad for the photo – gave my brain a shake when I read leaving the stones of your tardy regret (yes, great phrase!)
Argh!!!
“Tardy regret” is a brilliant phrase, so illustrative!
Regret’s probably always tardy now that I think about it. 🙂
