Happiness. It's relative.

Don’t worry. This won’t be a list of my favorite things. I’m way too wicked for that. I just really love this little ice cream stick. It was underneath the inch of ice cream and chocolate I’d just eaten while I was sitting in my Thunderbird thinking, hey, so what if I had to ask the 14-year old Walgreen’s clerk to repeat herself seventeen times only to find out that what she said was, “Did you find everything okay?”
No, I didn’t find everything okay, honey. I just found this. The ice cream bar and the incredibly clever stick.
I wish I was the person who thought to put “Seek out small pleasures” on an ice cream bar stick so millions of ice cream bar eaters would finish off that last bite and know they had done the right thing. The mind is such an easy thing to bend and twist. I love that. So, of course, I put the stick on my knee and took a picture of it. Now the stick sits on my desk because I figure if it let me off the hook for the ice cream bar, there’s a lot of chips and beer in line.
Is it better to be smart or to be clever? As a person who loves a good con, I put a high value on clever. So maybe I’m unduly impressed by the stick and how it’s manipulating millions of people right now all over the ice cream bar-eating world. Those pleasures you want? Seek them out. They’re small.
It’s rich, so rich.

What happens here on Red's Wrap is all over the map. There is no single theme, no overarching gripe, no malady of my own or others that dominates. I write about what seems important or interesting at the moment and what aims me toward hope. I write stories, essays, poems - whatever fits the day and the mood. Nothing stays the same, here or anywhere. That's a good thing. Happiness. It's relative.
