Happiness. It's relative.

This is written in response to a Trifecta writing challenge – 33 words on any topic.
The orphanage director took her hand and looked straight into her very blue eyes. “We think you should take him, not her. He needs you more. That’s what truly matters. Don’t you agree?”

What happens here on Red's Wrap is all over the map. There is no single theme, no overarching gripe, no malady of my own or others that dominates. I write about what seems important or interesting at the moment and what aims me toward hope. I write stories, essays, poems - whatever fits the day and the mood. Nothing stays the same, here or anywhere. That's a good thing. Happiness. It's relative.

Jan, I have tried a few times to comment. Please let me know if you have comments from me in your spam filter. Thank you.
Yes! There you were in the spam filter. I have no clue why. Thanks so much for telling me to go look. 🙂
This one stirs up feelings and creates lots of questions. Powerful work in so few words. Thanks for linking up. Please remember to return for the voting!
Thanks! And I voted. Fun exercise. I like the short ones.
There’s one heck of a lot of story in those 33 words, and a universal truth or two into the bargain. Nicely done.
Wow, and how do you respond to that? Spot on. Well done. Ah, I’m about being a woman and feminist. Hope you’ll visit.
aww, that is so sad!
“very blue eyes”…it struck me.
Maybe not. Maybe she ends up being glad. Who knows? 🙂
awwww :”( both, just take both.
Ha! I’m with you.
Sad. Makes me wonder the fate of that little girl. Very nice job with your 33 words!
Thanks #33! 🙂
I agree with Tom. Very thought-provoking, Jan! 😀
Thank you!
Sounds a little like Anne of Green Gables, sitting at the train station, waiting for Matthew Cuthbert, worried about not being the boy who was expected from the orphanage. Tough to have such a choice left to whim.
What can’t you do with words????
sounds like hell…
What a tough choice ):
Or both!
Spoken like an adoptive parent…;)
What a heartbreaking story that I suspect is all too real. But maybe, that’s just the way things are. Great entry.
Thank you!
