Happiness. It's relative.
I’d say it was ridiculous that someone in Europe happened on my blog and just happened to have been in the same orphanage with one of my kids. I’d say it was crazy and impossible. If it hadn’t already happened.
Several months ago, a woman in Spain contacted me through this blog. She said that she was one of the children in a group picture taken at Rolando Carazo orphanage in Managua, Nicaragua. She was sitting just a few chairs away from my daughter.
I asked my daughter if she remembered her. Of course, she did. Jhosy remembers everything. If she met you once five years ago, she would remember what you were wearing, particularly the shoes. So she remembered this girl, now a grown woman, and after several weeks of corresponding via Facebook, they had a phone conversation. I was there. It happened at our dining room table. Two women who had known each other when they were 5 years old in an orphanage in Central America, shrieking and laughing on the phone. It was wild. Just totally one for the books.
So today, there were a bunch of hits on my blog from Belgium and more clicks on the same group picture. And right away, I wondered whether it was Ivania. Ivania was my daughter’s little friend at Rolando Carazo. They lived in the same little house. They carried the big pail of rice from the cook to their house every night for dinner. All we ever knew about what happened to Ivania was that she was adopted by a family in Belgium.
Is it possible that another person on the other side of the world googled ‘Rolando Carazo’ and came upon the picture of Jhosy and the other kids, sitting in their little chairs, waiting for a party to begin?
What a gift if that’s true. What a wonderful, lovely gift. I hope it’s true.
Ivania – if it’s you, let me know. And I will let Jhosy know. And she will be overjoyed!

The name is not familiar to me. Do you have a picture? I know a man here in Milwaukee who worked as a volunteer at Rolando during that period. And another friend who worked on several of the adoptions. If you can send me a picture via email – jwilberg2000@gmail.com, I will see if they remember him. Are you trying to find out where he is now? Also, is it possible to get an email for Ivania. Are Ivania and Josselyne on Facebook? Please let me know. Best to you, Jan.
